Planned upgrade of the Hermes mail server
all2all is preparing to modernise Hermes, one of its mail servers. The system will be upgraded from Debian 11 to Debian 13, through Debian 12 in accordance with the recommended upgrade procedure.
The work is planned for the coming days. The summer period was chosen because traffic is generally lower, helping to limit the impact of the maintenance.
This work will maintain a secure, stable and sustainable environment with current system components and security updates.
Possible impact
During the maintenance window, access to mailboxes and the IMAP, POP and SMTP services hosted on Hermes may be briefly interrupted. Incoming mail will normally be held by the secondary mail infrastructure and delivered after the server returns.
No action is required from users. The exact date and maintenance window will be communicated once they have been scheduled.
The all2all team will monitor the server and mail flows throughout the operation and after service has been restored.
